COOKS will supply their own produce and compete to create the most delicious and tender treats, including smoky brisket and ribs, for judges.

From 10am to 1pm, the competition will be adjudicated, and presentations will be given to entrants from 3.30pm.

Local producers, Waubra Prime Meats and Western Plains Pork will also be championed on the day, cooked up by The Western in collaboration with Holy Smokes for attendees to purchase and enjoy from 12pm.

The Western Hotel’s Dan Cronin said competition will fierce and delicious.

“We’ve got more teams this year than previous years, and a few local teams that have spent the last 12 months perfecting their craft,” he said.

“This year there’s more food, more teams and a masterclass available for any backyard or want-to-be professional barbecuer.”

All through the day, the pub will ensure attendees are well fed and watered as they watch the competition unfold.

No bookings are required, so simply be there or be hungry! Wherever and whenever possible, The Western Hotel sources produce locally, which is always seasonal and fresh.

The staff can also perfectly match your choice of meal with a beer or wine from the bar’s extensive drinks list.

The pub makes food all day, and has weeknight specials for any member of your crew.

The hotel invites families to come along and enjoy a meal together, especially on Mondays when kids eat free with any full paying adult meal.

Steak Night is Tuesday, available only in the bar. Burgers are $15 on Wednesdays and Thursday Pama-Rama is also only available in the bar.

Friday is Tradies day with lunch from 12pm to 3pm, and Happy Hour brings some joy to all from 5pm.

Live music plays every Friday and Sunday evening.

Whether meeting mates, a date, or catching up with family, the team has something to carry everyone through a night to remember, and maybe even add in some dancing.

For something more professional or formal, The Western also offers function spaces to impress.

The conference and meeting room, or the large all weather, all-purpose Beer Garden are both flexible options for your next event.
