Play and skills at the library
THERE’S lots programmed to keep children busy these school holidays at Bannockburn Library.
From Thursday, 5 January, kids of all ages are invited to take part in a range of creative and fun activities and games.
“The Bannockburn Library is a wonderful place to spend some time during school holidays, especially during the summer break,” Bannockburn Library coordinator Leanne Reinke said.
“We have art and craft activities catering for a wide range of ages, a permanent colouring station for children and parents alike, as well as dress-ups and reading spaces.
“Our special attraction is our large outdoor courtyard with outdoor games like mini-golf and giant chess as well as some special family challenge events.
“Bring along a picnic or snack and a hat and meet others for some fun outdoors. Everyone is welcome, and becoming a member is free.
“The Bannockburn library has a variety of summer skills programs running these school holidays. You will find sessions for children as well as older teens over 15, and family activities for all ages.”
Children aged five and over can take part in fluffy pom-pom creature-making workshops, while those of all ages, and their families, are invited to four outdoor games days scheduled.
These will take place in the courtyard, with mini golf, giant Jenga and chess, Connect 4, quoits, tug of war, and elastics set up.
Kids aged eight and over can take part in a summer sewing session and learn the basics of sewing with a needle and thread, while those 15 and over can be part of the production of a zine.
Booking is recommended for the sessions as there are limited places. Register to take part in any of the programmed activities, and find more information about dates and times, at events.grlc.vic.gov.au/events.
