Play space opens for Inverleigh youth
THE Inverleigh Active Youth Space at Yerram Yaluk Bun Play Space has been officially opened this week.
The community recreation area for young people includes a BMX track, skate park, basketball courts, seats, tables and shelters, walking paths, and new carparks and has been developed to boost social and fitness opportunities for locals.
The works were backed by the State’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
“This project was community driven, with young people in mind,” said Member for Eureka Michaela Settle.
“I am delighted to support the facilities, and I know Inverleigh locals for generations to come will appreciate this space.”
The Minister for Suburbs Sonya Kilkenny said the Inverleigh Active Youth Space is a game-changer within the growing town and district.
“The Growing Suburbs Fund provides crucial infrastructure and is delivering results for local
communities,” she said.
In the last four years, the Golden Plains Shire has been allocated $6 million worth of
Growing Suburbs funding.
More broadly, the fund has backed 360 projects worth $1.3 billion within the last nine years.
