GOLDEN Plains Shire’s Pop-Up Youth Space is moving to the Meredith Community Centre for term three.

Open Wednesday afternoons from 3.30pm until 6pm, mayor Cr Helena Kirby said the space will cater to a variety of interests and individuals aged between 12 and 18 years old.

“The Pop-Up Youth Spaces are designed to appeal to a range of age groups, strengths and interests, and support young people to be physically and socially active in our communities,” she said.

“The Pop-Up Youth Space was incredibly successful in Inverleigh, and it’s exciting to see it move to Meredith where a new group of young people will be able to benefit from the initiative.

“Council is committed to providing safe and inclusive spaces for young people to connect with each other, and with their communities, whilst also providing platforms to learn new skills and build capacity.”

In between playing different gaming consoles, table tennis, board games and musical instruments, young visitors can fuel up on healthy food and drink available on site.

City youth development staff will supervise the space, with the pop-up running in conjunction with the Bannockburn Youth Group.

A dedicated school holiday Youth Space will also run at the community centre on 8 July from 1pm to 5pm, where young people of the same age group can get together, make new friends and join in on a range of activities.

The Meredith Pop-Up Youth Space will open on 14 July and remain until 15 September when the space moves again for term four.
