Program to help parents be their best
AN initiative aiming to support parents of newborns to five-year-olds is coming to Bannockburn.
The eight-week series of Circle of Security parenting program sessions is set to launch on Thursday 12 October, and will have a focus on relationships, and empowerment.
The program is being delivered by Ballarat CatholicCare in partnership with the Golden Plains Shire, and will look at attachment theory and share evidence-based tips to help parents and carers look after the children in their care to the best of their ability.
“As a parent myself, I understand the challenges that come with raising children,” said mayor Cr Brett Cunningham.
“The Circle of Security program is a wonderful initiative which will equip parents with the tools they need to better understand their child’s emotional needs, foster emotional management, and nurture self-esteem.
“It’s heartening to see our community benefit from such a comprehensive program, made possible through the support of Ballarat CatholicCare and the Crime Prevention Project.
“The program aligns with our commitment to building safer communities and nurturing the wellbeing of our youngest residents.
“I encourage all eligible parents and guardians in the Shire to take advantage of this valuable opportunity.”
The Circle of Security parenting program is free for the eight weeks, as part of the State Government’s Building Safer Communities program, and will be held at the Bannockburn Family Services Building.
Sessions will begin on Thursday 12 October at 12.45pm, running until 2.45pm and registration is required by Thursday 5 October at 5pm.
