Pub prepares market offering
WITH daylight savings here, everyone is invited to spend the sunlit hours of the evening searching through wares in a setting that’s not your typical market venue.
Later this month, the Inverleigh Hotel will serve as the site of an inaugural twilight market, with all manner of stalls available for attendees to browse.
Co-organiser and hotel owner Georgina Malady said the initiative is about uniting locals.
“The aim is to bring the community together because Inverleigh hasn’t had a market for quite some time, I think even prior to COVID,” she said.
“We want to make this as local as possible with local producers and makers. There’ll be a range of different stalls, and it’ll be inside our marquee at the back of the hotel and at the back paddock.
“As far as I know, this is the first time this has been done through the hotel. We want to do something different with the space we have.”
About 20 stalls are expected to feature so far, with local makers Whistlers Cottage, Camille’s Creations, Barbie May’s Accommodation Inverleigh, and Something Simple Soy Candles among those taking part.
Live music will be provided by acoustic performer Nathan Scott, and the event will include food trucks, face painting, and paella provided by the hotel.
Proceeds from the event will go towards mental health research organisation Black Dog Institute.
“Instead of people paying a fee to have a stall, it’ll be a $20 donation to the Black Dog Institute,” Ms Malady said.
“The hotel also runs a meat raffle each week through the social club and the money from that will go towards the institute too.”
The twilight market will run from 5pm to 8pm on Friday 22 November. To book a stall, contact the hotel on 5265 1220.
