Public engaged like never before

RESIDENTS could have closer communication with Golden Plains Shire, thanks to a new e-newsletter.

Engage will be available monthly and provide the community with all the information on the municipality’s current consultations and ongoing projects.

The first edition, which came out earlier this year, was focused on getting members of the public to have their say on the Draft Council Plan 2021-25, the draft budget 2021-22, Three Trails Project and the review of mayoral and councillor allowances.

Mayo Cr Helena Kirby said she encourages residents to sign up for the newsletter.

“Our councillor group is committed to engaging directly with our communities and Engage is an exciting way for residents to stay up-to-date with all opportunities for them to have their say and speak with us directly,” she said

“It’s so important for residents to have their say on the things that impact them and to know what happens to their feedback once a consultation closes.

“Engage is that one stop shop, where they can see all the current consultations and engagements and receive updates on previous ones.”

Cr Kirby said it’s a great way to closer connect councillors to their Golden Plains Shire community, and current initiatives have proven successful.

“As a councillor group, we hope Engage will encourage more residents to have their say and make the most of opportunities to speak with councillors directly,” she said.

“We’ve already had great discussions with community members at the recent Coffee with your Councillor days and councillor conversation posts, and we’re looking forward to meeting with community groups later in the year.”
