GEELONG Sustainability has its sights on helping the community achieve a low-carbon future, with the launch of the region’s first second-hand electric vehicle bulk-buy project.

GS president Vicki Perrett said the community group had joined forces with The Good Car Company to introduce affordable electric vehicles and give people the chance to try before they buy.

“The bulk buy project will enable people to get into a low mileage electric vehicle at an affordable entry price,” Ms Perrett said.

“The Good Car Company is partnering with us because of the enormous pent-up demand we see for EVs.

“A lack of understanding about them and their price and capabilities have been a barrier to uptake.

“The Good Car Company has delivered almost 200 vehicles through similar bulk buy projects elsewhere in Victoria, in the ACT and in Tasmania.”

As part of a wider electric vehicle push, a series of events are planned including a launch this week at The Gordon TAFE that will also be streamed online.

A Show and Shine will then provide an opportunity for residents interested in jumping behind the wheel of an EV to book a test drive.
