HAVE you got any photos, old sketches, newspaper or magazine clippings that you’ve kept, but weren’t sure how to use them?

Well, Smythesdale artist Anne Langdon is coming to the Bannockburn Library to lead a collage workshop on Tuesday 12 December.

“It’s all about reworking landscape sketches, old paintings, magazines, figure drawings, and photographs people have got,” she said.

“I’ll be looking at composition, texture, shape, colour, line, and form, and trying to get people to loosen up and experiment with some ideas.

“There’s a surrealistic and whimsical feel to the way I approach it, with floaty ideas.”

Collage is an artform that Langdon said allows a creative to extend themselves, and try something new, without committing to an immediate mark or stroke.

“You never glue anything down until right at the end, so there are endless possibilities you can work through with the composition,” she said.

“It’s only near the end where you decide, I’m ready to glue some things down now.”

Langdon said she enjoys sharing her artform through workshops and watching people push themselves as they follow a new creative pathway.

“I love that they feel that they can be arty and experiment,” she said. “I really enjoy seeing people doing that sort of thing.

“It’s fulfilling really, to see people exploring ideas.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring some materials that mean something to them, and Langdon will also bring some supplies, including paint and paper.

People will be able to try some printing techniques too. The session will run from 1pm to 3pm, with bookings essential via bit.ly/3MDlTn7.
