TEESDALE’S Twilight Fair is coming to Turtle Bend Reserve this Wednesday, 18 December with plenty of Christmas cheer.

From 4pm to 8pm, families can expect to be entertained by an evening of carols from the Mik Maks and local performers including Teesdale Primary School.

Santa will pay a visit, and with over 40 stallholders involved and plenty of food vans, Teesdale Community Events will host their biggest market ever across two areas.

Sophie Graham is one of six Teesdale Community Events team members. She said the twilight festival runs every year but has been rebranded as a fair in 2019 due to Geelong Amusement Hire jumping on board.

“That was the main goal this year, something new to trial for the community. It’s something for the older kids to do rather than watching the Mik Maks,” she said.

“There will definitely be a cup and saucer ride, The Whizzer, and others.”

Her team works hard to coordinate the ongoing markets, and days like the fair, to ensure the community feels connected.

“It’s really important. There’s a place where they can all gather with people they’ve got to know, are getting to know, and we’ve got people moving in new and fresh, so it’ll be nice for them to see that the environment they’ve moved into is a good choice,” Ms Graham said.

“We’ve got the CWA on board, the Lions group will have a barbecue, so we try to interconnect all the community driven people like the RSL, the kinder, the CFA and SES.

“That’s what I love about it the most and why we moved here. It’s a country community feel and everyone will always help everyone.”

A Monster Raffle will generate further cash and all funds raised will be funnelled into organising future fun in Teesdale.

“We’re all donation based and fundraising to pay for the next event. It should be very exciting, we’re looking forward to it,” Ms Graham said.

Entry is by a gold coin donation. Rides will cost $5 to $8 each.

Teesdale Community Events would love some more volunteers moving into 2020. Contact [email protected] to get involved.
