GOLDEN Plains Shire Council is seeking community feedback on its Road Management Plan for 2025-2029.

The plan aims to establish a system for road management functions and to set a performance standard for Golden Plains Shire’s road management functions.

It further identifies responsibilities and maintenance standards and inspection regimes for all road assets within council’s control.

The plan was endorsed for public submissions at the council’s 27 May meeting.

It followed a comprehensive internal review focusing on road assets, intervention standards, heavy vehicle usage, roadside use and responsibilities, road grading and the hierarchy of roads in line with state-wide regulations.

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said the plan established clear standards in terms of how road conditions are to be managed.

“The review of the Road Management Plan has been completed with the primary intent of minimising risks associated with the management of the road network,” he said.

“This review has focused on the responsible budgeting of road maintenance, while maximising road network safety for all users.

“We encourage residents to view and read this document on council’s website, and to provide any submissions or feedback over the next four weeks.”

The plan is available for public exhibition and community feedback until close of business on Thursday 26 June.

Residents can provide feedback online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations.

Hard copy submissions can also be completed at council’s customer hubs at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn or 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
