Rokewood community planning begins
RESIDENTS of Rokewood are beginning their community planning program which aims to drive the designing and implementation of local projects into the future.
Eleven residents indicated their interest in the program at a meeting held last week and the next get together will be held in July.
“This initial meeting was hosted by community planning mentors Non Profit Training and was designed to inform and educate interested community members about council’s community planning program in Rokewood,” said a Golden Plains Shire spokesperson.
“Eleven people have indicated they are keen to participate in the Rokewood community planning program which helps ensure there’s a broad representation of people to connect with the community and gain maximum input.”
Rokewood community coordinators will choose priority projects to be included in a four-year plan which will help the community advocate for funding opportunities.
“The program gives community members a voice and the ability to contribute to the development of their town’s community plan through surveys, interviews and public meetings,” said the spokesperson.
“Community members are best placed to identify and action projects to improve their own communities, and more can be achieved for Golden Plains Shire communities if community members, council and other key stakeholders work in partnership.”
