Rose planting nod to 55 years of ‘relief’

GUS, Grade 6 at Mount Blowhard Primary School, plants a rose with Dianne McGrath, President Ballarat Ryder-Cheshire, during a ceremony celebrating 60 years of the Ryder-Cheshire Foundation and 55 years of its operation in Ballarat.

Monday’s event, attended by City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Samantha McIntosh and Deputy- Mayor Cr Jim Rinaldi — as well as about 20 others, also included unveiling a plaque dedicated to the organisation.

The Ryder-Cheshire Foundation was founded in 1959 by Leonard Cheshire and Sue Ryder ‘for the relief of suffering’ in Australia, India and Timor-Leste.
