THE 2021 Federation University Run for A Cause is again seeking to generate funds to assist the city’s children in need.

Facilitated by the Ballarat Foundation, which has a goal to raise $50,000, all money from the virtual month-long fun-run will cover back-to-school supply vouchers, helping families purchase books, stationary, and shoes.

The Foundation is encouraging the Ballarat community to get walking or running from Monday, 18 October and seek sponsorship, contributing to an overall count of kilometres covered in the local area.

CEO Andrew Eales said the aim is to cover at least 50,000 kilometres to match the fundraising target, and in doing so, further support those who have been hit hard in the last 18 months.

“We are raising funds for an extremely worthy cause. We know that so many people in our community have been struggling financially with the impact of COVID-19,” he said.

“By supplying back-to-school vouchers to families in need, we are able to slightly ease their financial burden, allowing the purchase of uniforms, books and stationery so that no child misses out on their education.”

Beside Federation University as the naming right major sponsor, Heinz Law is an official Community Impact Partner. McGrath Real Estate, Mr Brakes and Showbiz Cinemas are also all sponsors.

Victoria Park would have been the location for the fun-run this year, if not for COVID-19 restrictions.
