Scarsdale road open again
A SCARSDALE floodway has reopened following extensive upgrades.
The Tannery Road floodway is now open to traffic and has been updated to allow double the amount of water to pass underneath.
Rocks and concrete approaches have been added as well as an asphalt transition to connect it to existing road.
The rocks placed on either side are designed to protect the asphalt from losses in future flooding.
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said construction and upgrades are set to continue across Golden Plains Shire.
“The Tannery Road Floodway is a significant upgrade of what was previously there, and council will continue to identify and complete similar projects to improve safety and access on our roads,” he said.
“The roads maintenance teams have been doing a lot of work on the Shire’s 1700 kilometres road network.
“We are responding to all requests for road works, however roads will continue to be repaired on a priority basis based on traffic volume and road usage.
“Council values and appreciates residents’ feedback on our road networks, and we appreciate your support as the teams complete these essential works.”
State Government funding has been sought to support road works in the region.
