Seeking future transport solutions
THE Golden Plains, goldfields, and Pyrenees regions are set to benefit from State Government Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program funding.
In an aim to plan transport networks of the future, $60,000 is being put towards a Strategic Transport Assessment for the Golden Plains, Moorabool, Hepburn, Pyrenees and Central Goldfields shires, and the City of Ballarat.
“We are working with local councils to better understand how our region can benefit from thoughtful and strategic transport planning,” said the Member for Eureka Michaela Settle.
“This is critical as we look to the future of our communities.”
The assessment is expected to create a guide around public transport and how it can have a positive effect on social communities, the economy, and housing.
“This is an important initiative for Ballarat and surrounding communities, providing evidence-based solutions and helping the city meet the demands of a growing population,” said the Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams.
FLTSP funding is allocated to local governments and community organisations for transport projects including evidence-based trials.
