Sewer project underway

THE Ballarat southern trunk sewer project by Central Highlands Water has begun in the city’s west.

The works aim to ensure the wastewater needs of the area can be met with the region’s’s population expected to reach more than 160,000 by 2040.

The $3 million project is underway in Smythes Creek and consists of building nearly two kilometres of trunk sewer pipeline from glass reinforced polymer pipe.

The pipe will be built near the Pinnacle and Cherryside Estate connecting it to the Cherry Flat Road sewer pump which is also under construction.

“Central Highlands Water is committed to investing in the future of our growing region,” said Central Highlands Water managing director Jeff Haydon.

“The Ballarat southern trunk sewer project will support land development in the Ballarat west growth area, enabling the wastewater needs of City of Ballarat’s growth and forecast population of over 160,000 by 2040.”
