SERVICE closures and changes have been announced by Golden Plains Shire, with several offerings affected.

Both municipal customer service centres at Bannockburn and Smythesdale will close at 5pm on Thursday, 24 December and won’t reopen until Monday, 4 January. However essential services will keep running over the shutdown period and urgent help is available on 5220 7111.

Likewise, the Bannockburn Family Services Centre, which offers in-person maternal, child and seniors support, will pause at 5pm on Christmas Eve before returning to normal hours on 4 January.

Once again, essential community and personal care service will run throughout the holiday period and maternal and child health will also be operating an altered service.

On maternal and child health in other parts of the Shire, regular consultations in Meredith, Teesdale, Inverleigh and Rokewood will resume on 4 January.

Thursday, 24 December also marks the end of municipal administration of Bannockburn’s Long-Day Care Centre, with new owners Kardinia Early Learning taking on the service from 4 January.

Shire kindergartens are set to end their year on Friday, 18 December and will start a fresh when school goes back for term 1 on Friday, 29 January.

Meanwhile, the municipal transfer station at Rokewood will be closed on Sunday, 27 December and be unavailable for a week, reopening for normal operation hours from Sunday, 3 January.

When it comes to kerbside rubbish and recycling collections, all pick up days will remain the same apart from Christmas Day, Friday, 25 December when collection will move a day back to Saturday, 26 December. Likewise, collection on New Year’s Day, Friday, 1 January will be delayed 24 hours, with that pick up moving to Saturday, 2 January.
