ARTISTS will share their creative flair and workspaces when the Golden Plains Southern Open Studios welcome visitors this month.

Organised by not-for-profit community group GP Arts Inc for Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 March, five member studios will be open throughout the south of the Shire.

Illustrator Marita Reynolds will host textile artist Lyn Dickson, mixed media-worker Roslyn Bosnar, and author Wendy Spall at her Bannockburn space, while photography and acrylic art are the stars of the show at Murray and Ana White’s in Teesdale.

Work by at least five guest artists will be presented alongside bronze sculptures by Lucy McEachern at her Wingeel studio, while coloured pencil worker Jen Urquhart and mixed media creative Jillian Rough are opening their respective Stonehaven studios for the first time.

With picturesque mountains and gardens surrounding it, Urquhart’s brand-new, bright, modern art space has just been constructed, named Talamh Art Studio.

Smooth as silk: Mixed media-worker Roslyn Bosnar will showcase her work in Bannockburn.

“I’m excited to welcome people in, because one of my whole aims has been to get coloured pencil work out there,” she said

“Over the last five years, I’ve been developing my own style, which is a painterly look, depicting still life and some botanicals.

“Nobody realises what coloured pencil can look like, so I hope people are amazed by the painterly look when they walk in.”

Painter-drawer Sarah Gabriel, watercolourist Robert J Williams, and painters Nick Dridan, Harley Manifold, and Kathryn Ryan will also be sharing their work at Lucy McEachern’s studio and sculpture garden where there’ll be an Austin’s wine tasting and coffee van.

Entry to the Golden Plains Southern Open Studios is free, and they’re open from 10am to 4pm both days. Visit gpartsinc.com.au/events.php for studio addresses and more information.
