ARE you a young person in the region looking for something to do over January?

Golden Plains Shire is aiming to entertain you with its free summer holiday program of activities.

Delivered by the municipality’s youth team, the program will run from January 14 to January 24 and is designed to cater for people aged between 12 and 25.

The program will begin with an all-day level two first aid session at Smythesdale followed by two visits to Indoor Go Karting and Laser Force in Ballarat on January 15.

A game of Dungeons and Dragons will be held at the youth hub at Bannockburn the next day from 12 noon to 4.30pm, while an all-in colour dash event will be held at Teesdale’s Leighdale Equestrian Centre on January 17.

Week two will begin with a BMX workshop at Meredith from noon to 4.30pm, while participants can test their cyberspace skills as part of a Beat Saber VR competition from noon to 3pm at the youth hub.

The program will wrap up on January 24 with a visit to Melbourne Aquarium from 12 noon to 2pm.

Many of the activities have been prepared as a result of residents’ requests.

Golden Plains Shire recently held a youth engagement survey asking the region’s young people what programs, offerings and support initiatives they would like to see from the Shire.

The survey closed on December 13.

Participants are asked to book as soon as possible due to limited capacity across the sessions.

Tickets can be found at the Golden Plains Shire website.
