MAGICAL sounds of the festive season will echo around Mars Stadium this Sunday 17 December.

Ballarat Carols by Candlelight will return to dazzle families with gates open from 5pm.

“Christmas is about traditions, and we feel it’s important to not deviate too far from what people want, which are the carols they know and love, performed well,” carols president Matt Hustwaite said.

“We have Opera Australia’s Jason Wasley and music theatre stars Sarah Landy and Brent Trotter for the grown-ups, to Kryal Castle and Paw Patrol for the kids.”

Also on the bill are Ballarat Grammar Pipe Band, Ballarat Vocal Studio students, Ballarat Lyric Theatre’s Annie cast, Lililei Lim, Liam Kelly, Daniel Lamech, and Anna Pelly.

Local food trucks will be set up, and a range of activities including meet and greets with Paw Patrol, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, a vintage and classic car display, a sports zone with Kelly Sports and PerFit, and kids story time are on offer.

“Having a range of activities that the whole family can enjoy before the concert starts is something we like to offer,” Mr Hustwaite said.

The event may be free, but it’s also aiming to financially boost Cafs’ Christmas Appeal and Thread Together program through donations on the night.

“The vital work of Cafs ensures that families in need can have presents under the tree, food on the table and clothes on their back this Christmas, and I encourage our patrons on Sunday to dig deep for the cause,” Mr Hustwaite said.
