PARENTS and carers of children aged between one and two in the Shire’s north are invited to a free session about sleep and settling.

On Thursday, 28 July from 10.30am to 12pm at The Well, the Golden Plains Maternal and Child Health team will offer information and support about how to establish and maintain good sleeping habits, in a face-to-face setting.

The MCH team members will discuss development milestones pertaining to age, regular sleep patterns, and strategies, offer resources for wellbeing, and can answer any questions.

Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said the municipality is pleased to offer “evidence-informed” help.

“Sleep and settling is a common issue faced by parents with young children and managing sleep and settling concerns is important for both the long-term health, development and wellbeing of children and their families,” he said.

“Delivered by council’s Maternal Child Health team, the upcoming sleep and settling information session in Smythesdale is an opportunity for families to learn more about sleep and settling, share their experiences with other new parents and gain valuable guidance and information to help prevent and address sleep concerns.”

The Golden Plains Maternal and Child Health team can offer ongoing support away from the session for those interested, and in-person and virtual group sessions will continue to run targeted at various age groups, led by a nurse or children’s services educator.

For more information on the session, or to book, visit bit.ly/3aS4mrn, contact [email protected] or call 5220 7230. The Maternal and Child Health helpline runs all day and night at 13 22 29.
