Snappy in the shire this Spring
WHAT do you love about living in Golden Plains?
The council encourages creative residents of the Shire to bounce off this theme, entering the Spring in the Shire photography competition.
Amateur snappers who capture and highlight the things they enjoy about Golden Plains, whether they be country scenery, townships, parklands or beyond, will be eligible to enter one of three age categories, and could win a prize of $300.
The Major Prize is for photographers over 18, the Young Adult Prize champions those 13 to 17 years old, and children up to 12 can enter the Junior Prize.
For Mayor, Cr Owen Sharkey, the competition is a chance to celebrate the local government area’s beauty and spirit.
“Golden Plains Shire has plenty to love and photograph,” he said. “It could be your favourite walking track, one of the many beautiful landmarks around the shire, the best spot for coffee, or even your own backyard.
“It’s fantastic to have the competition return for another year.”
Photographers can submit their pieces via goldenplains.vic.gov.au/springshire2019. The works must be taken within the Golden Plains Shire and will be critiqued for their impact, subject matter and storytelling.
Entries close on Tuesday, 1 October and an awards ceremony will be on Saturday, 16 November at the Dereel Town Hall from 3pm to 5pm.
The council is collaborating with Inverleigh’s Sonny Café and the Bannockburn Pharmacy to provide prizes.
