Song and cheer to unite Mt Pleasant
THE newly upgraded Mount Pleasant Reserve will the home its community’s evening of Christmas Carols on Sunday, 8 December.
Coordinated by the Mount Pleasant Community Connections Group in partnership with the City of Ballarat, the event from 6pm to 8pm will see Mount Pleasant Primary School and Phoenix P-12 Community College choirs perform alongside The Little Brass Band.
Ballarat East Neighbourhood House’s Kate Owen organises activities every day for the community to come together and said it’s exciting to “activate” the refreshed reserve space.
“It provides that sense of identity for the Mount Pleasant area and beyond,” she said.
“It’s busy at the end of the year but it’s a lovely time to stop, really come together and enjoy an evening together, leading into a happy and safe holiday period.
“The carols are a fun filled night, people can bring their own picnic, but we do provide fruit for the children and will have a subsidised Bean Me Up coffee van and Hippy Whippy ice cream,” Ms Owen said.
The Vintage and Classic Car Club will bring Santa and his helpers and activities from the YMCA will be available. A playground is on site.
If the weather is wet, the event will move to Mount Pleasant Primary School. It is a drug and alcohol free evening.
