A SHARED ten thousand dollars was distributed by the Rotary Club of Ballarat to its community partners last week, following the 2020 Ultimate SpringFest Online Raffle.

A total of approximately $15,500 was raised, with the balance directed to service projects of the Rotary Club of Ballarat.

SpringFest director Rob Glass said Mount Egerton Primary School, Bungaree Primary School, Phoenix P-12 Community College, Miners Rest Primary School and the Ballarat Chinese Dragon Boat Club all received a visit from Rotary representatives for a cheque handover.

“It went very well, and everyone was most appreciative. We firstly went to Mount Egerton, where the whole school was present, all 11 students out there, and the teaching staff,” he said.

“The head boy out there very kindly thanked us for the donation to the school, which they’re going to use to subsidise their school camp.

“There’s about 40 students at Bungaree, where the money is going to be used to refurbish their art room, and Miners Rest are in the middle of a phenomenal major building extension there, so their money is going towards fitting out new rooms.”

The Chinese Dragon Boat Club will further fit-out their boats, while Phoenix P-12 Community College are directing funds to school programs.

The Rotary Club of Ballarat is beginning their plans for SpringFest 2021 over the next few months, assessing their COVID-safe options and developing a plan for a Market Sunday event that keeps all attendees and stallholders safe, while raising money for the community.

“We’ll be working through requirements that we need to meet to adapt the SpringFest market to meet those requirements,” Mr Glass said.

“Whichever way it goes, whether we’re all the way around the lake or in a more controlled area, like the North Gardens, we’re wanting to make sure we have a SpringFest Market Sunday this year.”
