St Pat’s seek to fill SoupBus at SpringFest

STUDENT support for the Rotary Club of Ballarat’s milk drive continues.

During the market Sunday event on 26 November, SpringFest community partner St Patrick’s College will be aiming to collect as many litres of milk as possible to donate to The SoupBus.

“We’re partnering with Rotary to help continue the great work of the Ballarat SoupBus,” said director of community development Roger Le Grand.

“The SoupBus provides an after-dark meal service to Ballarat’s homeless and less fortunate, and aims to create dignified and respectful interaction with those in our community who are in need of assistance.

“With the cost of living rising in our community, the demand on the SoupBus in recent times has increased markedly, and the volume of milk required has almost doubled in the space of just 12 months.

“As such, St Patrick’s College is leading the charge to fill the SoupBus with milk over the SpringFest weekend. We will have volunteers on hand at our site next to the SoupBus, collecting any and all donations.”

Mr Le Grand said community connections is a key value of the Catholic boys’ secondary school, which has been a part of Ballarat since 1893.

For this reason, getting involved with SpringFest has been a no-brainer for the college’s leadership staff.

“We’re delighted to be part of such a successful and significant event,” Mr Le Grand said.

“Our mission is to provide an engaging, enjoyable, and holistic education for boys that liberates them and leads them to a wisdom for life.

“We seek to contribute significantly to the formation of young adults who are confident, compassionate, respectful, authentic, relational, and optimistic about the future and their place in it, and the contribution they will make to society.”

At SpringFest, St Pat’s students and staff will have enrolment information on hand, and will be able to answer any questions of potential future college families.
