HAVE any young musical performers been practicing in your house over the holidays?

If they’re up for a summer gig, either solo or with a group, the Golden Plains Shire’s Youth Events Crew have the perfect opportunity for them to get on stage.

Artists between the ages and 12 to 25 are being sought to perform at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre on Saturday, 18 February.

“Young musicians, bands and DJs from across Golden Plains… are invited to participate in the Golden Plains Youth FReeZA Summer Sessions music event… from 3pm until 7pm,” a statement from the youth development team said.

“The youth-led event is presented by the FReeZA Youth Events Crew and is a showcase of young up and coming artists, inclusive of all genres, with bands, soloists, duo performances and DJs all welcome to register.

“The event aims to support emerging musicians by providing a safe and inclusive opportunity to perform in front of a live audience and will also support opportunities for young musicians to network with each other and perform alongside a regional headline act to be announced shortly.”

The Shire’s Youth Development team, and the FReeZA Youth Events Crew are encouraging all interested musical artists and performers to express their interest in hopping up on stage and playing to an audience of local people.

Shire officers and the FReeZA crew will aim to work with all successful performers to ensure the event is accessible to them, and they have all the support they need to play at their best.

Young people can complete a form at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations by Friday, 20 January, or pick up a paper copy at the Shire customer hub at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn, or Smythesdale’s The Well.

They can be returned to [email protected] or Golden Plains Shire Council, PO Box 111, Bannockburn, Victoria, 3331, marked ‘FReeZA Summer Session 2022 Expression of Interest.’
