Tee-up to educate Cafs kids
THE number of Australian children in out-of-home care is enough to fill eighty per cent of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
That’s why the late golfer, Ian Stanley founded the Tee-Up for Kids Foundation, to give vulnerable young people better opportunities, prosperous childhoods and happy lives.
Tee-Up for Kids Co-Founder, Ian McPherson said more than 1000 children have been educated through the charity since it began, and a golf day on 22 November will help to continue that work locally.
The Ian Stanley Classic will be in full swing at Hepburn Springs Golf Club on Friday next week, benefiting the district’s kids in out-of-home care by injecting funds into Cafs Care Farm in Springmount.
“Some of these kids have been sexually abused, mentally abused and physically abused, and in the Ballarat region, there’s about 140 kids down there,” Mr McPherson said.
“The money always stays in the area it’s raised, so that’s why it’s going to Cafs, a local charity.”
Mr McPherson said Stanley was a top professional golfer across the world, passionate about his foundation and giving kids in out-of-home care access to a quality education.
