A NEW masterplan for Don Wallace Recreation Reserve at Teesdale has received the thumbs up from Golden Plains Shire council.

The move came at October’s council meeting and the masterplan was created following community consultation.

It includes a focus on new signage and traffic management at the site, as well as upgraded changerooms, playing surfaces, a new playground, and demolition of the current toilet block.

Don Wallace Rec Reserve was the focus of a recent election commitment by the Labor Party, with $1.5 million pledged by current Member for Buninyong, and Eureka hopeful, Michaela Settle in mid-October

Golden Plains Shire mayor and Teesdale local Cr Gavin Gamble welcomed the approval of the updated document for the rec reserve.

“Council is excited to adopt the Don Wallace Recreation Reserve Masterplan and we thank all of the community members who shared their valuable input during its development,” he said.

“As Teesdale continues to grow, it is important to have a plan in place to guide the growth of the Don Wallace Recreation Reserve which is utilised by so many different local user groups from the local cricket, football and tennis clubs, to the primary school, and the local Teesdale residents.

“The masterplan will provide increased opportunity for residents from Teesdale and surrounding townships to engage in physical activity and participate in a variety of sports.

“This Masterplan will be a valuable resource for Council as we advocate for funding opportunities to make these recommendations a reality.”
