The more the merrier at Friday fete
NAPOLEONS Primary School’s second fete will be a fun filled evening for the whole family on Friday, 22 November from 3.30pm to 8pm.
With Rinaldi pony rides, Ballarat Gymsports equipment to try, a jumping castle, a roving clown, face painting, mug decorating, rock painting, wand making and a colouring competition, children will be well entertained.
Parent and member of the school’s fundraising committee, Rebecca Harrison is looking forward to a specific feature of the fete, planned by the fire brigade.
“The local CFA has got hold of a car and the Jaws of Life, so they’re going to do a live demonstration between five and six o’clock, and cut up a car in front of everyone,” she said. “It’s super exciting.”
The school wishes to direct their fundraising towards refreshing resources for literacy and STEM learning.
“My daughter’s bringing home books that are from 1984, 83, 82,” Ms Harrison said.
“The STEM program has iPads, but we have eight new ones, eight really old ones, and there’s not enough for every student, so we’d like to raise some money for that too.”
Live music will play throughout the fete, school parents are hosting a Homemade Stall, staff are cooking a barbeque, and students will run their own carnival games like Chocolate Toss, a Pick-a-Duck competition, water pistol shooting and Beat-a-Teacher.
The grade 5 and 6 pupils are coordinating a Sweets and Treats stall, and with indoor and outdoor market stalls across the site there’ll be a tombola jar raffle, a home crafted quilt raffle, a second-hand stall and a plant stall.
Food vans with Twisted Potatoes, hot chips, gelati, donuts, slushies and fairy floss will keep snackers happy.
“It will be a fun, friendly, family atmosphere and should be lots of fun. We’re hoping to draw people from Buninyong and the whole of Ballarat,” Ms Harrison said.
“Because we’re such a small school, raising money is very difficult and we only have 66 families to bring money from, so it’s important we draw some from the outside community.
“Anyone outside the community, or future students, they’re more than welcome. Grandpas, nannas, the whole works, the more the merrier.”
Fete attendees should bring lots of gold coins or small notes as there will be no ATM facilities.
