YMCA Bannockburn has gone pink for the month of May as the centre’s staff bring back a major breast cancer fundraiser.

The organisation’s local marketing manager Liz Tobolov said the aim of the day is to raise money and awareness for the Breast Cancer Network of Australia, while bringing the community together.

“We’ve all been touched by breast cancer in some way in our lives,” she said.

“We’re very passionate about this cause, helping people who are experiencing the disease, and engaging the community in the process.”

The market is free to enter, and Ms Tobolov said there is fun planned for the whole family, including a mini golf course, an animal farm, gym play areas, and a finger bun icing activity.

“All gold coins raised from the sausage sizzle and face painting, and the funds from all the stallholder registrations, will be donated to BCNA,” she said.

“We have close to 50 stallholders coming along, all of a wide variety, and we encourage families to get out and about.”

YMCA Bannockburn staff will be part of a broader crew of volunteers on the day, and they’ll be hard to miss.

“Our team, which we call the Pink Ladies, will all be wearing pink,” Ms Tobolov said.

“For the whole month of May our stadium turns pink, and all our staff wear pink shirts to get into the spirit of things, so this is not just a one-day thing.

“Come along, ask questions, see what we do at the Y Bannockburn, and get involved.”

The BCNA Market Day is set for Sunday, 21 May from 10am to 2pm and is delivered in partnership with Bakers Delight Lara.

The YMCA Bannockburn Recreation Centre is located at 132 Milton Street, Bannockburn.
