Through the floor at Haddon Stadium
THE replacement of Haddon Stadium’s ageing, unlevel playing surface has begun and is expected to be completed by March.
The $220,000 job has been fully funded by the State government to see a safe, easy to maintain, flat playing surface installed to service Haddon Primary School daily, badminton players, basketballers, and even market sellers in periods of wet weather.
Member for Buninyong, Michaela Settle is “really happy” to see the action, as it was her first election commitment.
“It’s been a great collaboration with the Golden Plains Shire council and we’ve been working to get this done,” she said.
“The upgraded stadium will revive indoor sports in the community and provide health benefits for years to come. We’re getting a great result.”
Golden Plains Shire mayor, Cr Owen Sharkey said the upgrade has been “on the cards” for a long time.
“It’s fantastic for the Haddon community to receive this grant and get this done,” he said.
“We’re a really poor, small shire. A project like this, if we had to contribute to it, probably just wouldn’t get done so it’s fantastic to see the State government leaning in the way they have.”
