Tigers psyched for hypno event
A LOCAL sports club is putting down their footballs and netballs in favour of the waving fob watch.
On Saturday, 16 July, Bannockburn Football Netball Club will host Hypnomania with hypnotherapist and entertainer JimmyD at Victoria Park.
BFNC president Scott Penning said the event will provide an evening of fun, bewilderment and laughter at, and among, friends.
“Normally we’d have a trivia night or bogan bingo but it’s been five or six years since we had a hypnotist so we thought we’d do something different this time,” he said.
“It’ll be a fun exciting night for the club and surrounding community. Everyone can get together and have a bit of a laugh, possibly at the expense of myself, some key members and a few others.
“It’s so important coming out of COVID that we can all have a laugh and not take each other so seriously and just relax.”
Following a presentation on the theories of hypnosis, attendees are encouraged to get involved in the show and subject themselves to the whim of Hypnotist JimmyD, real name Jim Hill.
The event will be a Bannockburn-first for Hill, who has three years training at Melbourne’s Academy of Hypnotic Science.
Blending his experience in hypnosis and hypnotherapy with his love of sporting entertainment, Hill said the show will be “hypnotic fun with a rock concert kind of feel.”
“We’ve got lasers and smoke machines, a big sound system. It’s a real spectacle with mind games and people being made to do ridiculous but safe things they wouldn’t normally do,” he said.
“We’re not there to embarrass anyone, we’re there for some light-hearted entertainment. It’s the sort of thing people will talk about months later, like remember when that person got up and did that?
“So, it’s also bringing the community together through that shared experience of good times and laughter.”
