A YOUNG tiling apprentice from Alfredton has been named as one of the region’s best by Master Builders Victoria.

Twenty-four-year-old Kale Faull, who works at Tidy Tiling, has received the Chairperson’s Ballarat Regional Apprentice of the Year award after being nominated by the Building Skills Centre.

Mr Faull was judged on his overall preparation and presentation, work experience, knowledge and career plans, and attitude on and about the job.

“I was lucky enough to get some exposure to tiling by doing some work with my father, so when the opportunity came up to do an apprenticeship… I jumped at it,” he said.

“I like the way you spend time on a project and see the final outcome on display, so I’d recommend getting a trade to anyone in the area who’s looking for a career path.”

Chair of the Ballarat section of Master Builders Victoria, David Rowe, visited Mr Faull at Tidy Tiling in Alfredton last Friday to present him with his award.

“Congratulations to… Kale [for his] win,” he said.

“The panel of judges commented on how strong the field of nominees were this year, so that’s a terrific sign that the future of the building and construction industry in Ballarat and surrounding regions is in good hands.”

Horsham’s Bailey Pilgrim from CHS Building was awarded the Training Provider Apprentice of the Year, and a number of merit certificates were given to apprentices from a range of trades.
