PLATE Up Ballarat 2019 officially launched on Monday night at Mercedes Benz Ballarat.

The second festival will come to life in May, with more than 50 unique experiences spanning 31 days, celebrating Ballarat’s local food and wine, producers and hospitality businesses.

Director, Kate Davis said Ballarat was the culinary capital of Western Victoria and 80 businesses and 100 producers locally were getting involved in 2019 to promote sustainability and help build a long-term vision for Ballarat.

“Last year, the attendees were so proud. Local people…it was so important to them,” she said. “There was a huge sense of community pride.”

Last year’s event saw Plate Up Ballarat take home the New and Emerging Business Award at the Fed Uni Business School, Commerce Ballarat Business Excellence Awards.

This time round the event is set to be even bigger and better. The 31 days of events include dining experiences, workshops, food truck events and a gala opening.
