LINTON’S day dedicated to one man’s trash and another’s treasure is back next month.

The Linton Town Wide Garage Sale is set to take place on Sunday 12 November, and organiser Jenny Stuart said the aim is to help households get rid of some clutter and make a bit of pocket money.

“It’s not only for homes, but for groups like the Historical Society, the men’s shed or the school, who can have their own stalls like a sausage sizzle for example.

“The option is always there, so it’s a good opportunity for the town as a whole.”

Ms Stuart said the day is not just about bringing bargain hunters to town, but all about community, and it creates a “wonderful buzz” throughout Linton.

“It can showcase the town to the people, and organisations can possibly gain membership from it,” she said.

“Linton can be a quiet little town, and it shows that we can run something, it can be quite successful, and it doesn’t take too much effort.”

It’s up to each household to manage their own sale on the day, but Ms Stuart as the lone coordinator organises the map, advertising, and balloons.

On the day, free maps of the homes and groups involved will be available from the Linton Takeaway, with printing donated by The Printer Wizard.

“My aim is to cut down on ad costs and put that money towards buying some Bali flags, which can be used year in, year out, and we can hire or loan them out to other garage sales,” Ms Stuart said.

The 2022 event saw 26 registered garage sales and people from nearby towns Happy Valley and Snake Valley have even joined in in the past.

“We had some people out on the main street last year, and that’s a lovely thing we hope we can do again,” she said. “We’ll see if we can set up around the community hub.”
