DAYLESFORD will host a leg of the R U OK? Trust the Signs Tour later in August.

The 14,000km tour started in July in NSW and will visit a total of 24 communities around Australia running free events encouraging people to ask others if they are OK.

R U OK?’s 2019 survey found about two-thirds of people are not confident they know the signs that someone might be struggling with life.

CEO Katherine Newton said most Australians believe talking to someone in need can help, but “people aren’t sure when is the right time to have an R U OK? conversation.

“Signs can be subtle changes in verbal or non-verbal behaviour,” she said.

“You might spot a loved one is having unusual mood swings, changes in sleep, or a mate might be withdrawing from social situations like not turning up to sport training.”

The aim of this year’s R U OK?Day is to empower people to trust their gut instinct and ask the question.

Events in Daylesford, Bendigo, Melbourne, and beyond will include free food, activities for all ages, and opportunities to learn how to recognise, read, and respond to cues of people in need.

The Goldfields tour stop is set for the Daylesford Sunday Market on Sunday, 25 August, from 9am to 1pm.

National R U Okay?Day is held on the second Thursday of September.
