Try something new during women’s health week
ZUMBA, rhythmic drumming or learning how mindfulness and meditation techniques works are just a few of the offerings at Make Your Move Ballarat.
The half day event will take over the entire Barkly Square complex in celebration of women’s health week. There will be a range of physical activity sessions, healthy cooking demonstrations and guest speakers to share their experience around key women’s health topics.
“It is important that everybody takes time out to focus on their health and wellbeing and Make Your Move is an opportunity for women to do just that,” said Georgia Savage, Healthy Living Coordinator at YMCA Ballarat and Grampians Region.
“We are encouraging women to come and hang out with their friends and family, try a few sessions and spend the whole morning investing in themselves.”
Men are welcome to attend.
Each session takes 30 minutes and gives people the opportunity to participate without commitment or obligation.
For those who regard physical activity as not their strong suit there are a range of guest speakers sharing their expertise and stories.
“It’s a little bit of a taster, we have ensured that each of the activities on the day are available in the community for anyone interested in continuing,” Ms Savage said. “Coming along and try out one or as many as you have time for.
“They are designed for any fitness level and any age group.”
The event is being coordinated by YMCA, Ballarat Health Services, Ballarat Community Health, City of Ballarat and Sports Central.
Make Your Move is a Barkly Square, 25 Barkly Street, Ballarat on Saturday, 7 September from 9am to 1pm. Free registration is at Eventbrite at bit.ly/Make-your-move-tickets.
