ARE you feeling Christmassy yet, Teesdale?

After you’ve been to Turtle Bend Reserve on the evening of Friday, 16 December, you’ll be well and truly in the festive mood.

The annual Teesdale Twilight Market and Carols event is back from 4pm to 8pm, with something on offer for all ages.

“We have over 30 stalls booked with food, baked goods, Christmas presents, products from local makers and crafts people, and information about community groups,” said co-organiser Mayan Rowling from Teesdale Community Events.

“We’ve secured The Mik Maks again, so it’s one of the cheaper ways to see them perform. Local musicians will be performing Christmas carols as well.

“Come along, sit on the hay bales, enjoy some food, music, and community spirit.”

Ms Rowling said the aims of the event are to celebrate the Teesdale and Golden Plains community, and for families and groups to come together, connect, and see what’s happening where they live.

“It’s slightly later on in December this year, and we’ve moved it to a Friday, so it will be a lovely relaxing family-friendly evening, with a fun atmosphere, and hopefully some nice weather,” she said.

The Teesdale Market and Carols has been coordinated by Ms Rowling and Sophie Graham as volunteers, with support from the Golden Plains Shire, and a grant from Berrybank Wind Farm.

Ms Rowling said she and Ms Graham are always looking for more people to join their committee, or to become sponsors.

“The event is run by volunteers, and this year, we need people to help us on the day with set up and pack down.

“Otherwise, most of the voluntary work is done in November and December, and those on the committee can do most of the tasks from home,” she said.

Entry by gold coin donation with the money going towards covering the costs of next year’s event.
