WITH a line-up of live music and a wide range of stallholders Teesdale’s Turtle Bend Reserve is shaping up as a good place to be next Thursday evening, 11 December.
The reserve beside Native Hut Creek sets the scene for the Teesdale Twilight Market and Carols which the Turtle Bend Committee is organising, backed by an enthusiastic team of volunteers and multiple sponsors.
The event is set to get started from 4pm and runs through to 8pm with a performances from children’s group Team Dream, Family Jam, the Voices of Geelong Choir and the Teesdale Primary School Choir, and plenty of seasonal carols in the program mix.
Organisers said the upcoming event promises to be the perfect opportunity to get some gift shopping completed.
“We have all sorts of things for Christmas from food to crafts, and dinner is also available from the food and drink vans,” the committee’s David Bruce said.
“The event is not for profit. We have local performers and producers and the intention is to get the community together to have a good time.
“This event has been run in various forms for over 20 years now and it’s run by volunteers.”
It’s also very much a family-focussed festive occasion with Santa scheduled to make an appearance during the evening.
“There will be free activities for children of all ages including a jumping castle, obstacle course, face painting and a prize cube,” said the committee’s Kerry Dalziel, reserving some praise for the multiple sponsors that have come to the party to enable the free entertainment on offer.
“If we did not have the support of our sponsors we would not have been able to offer this.”
