Two killed in Cressy train collision

Two people have died after a car and freight train collided at a railway crossing in Cressy on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to Reddies Road at about 10.15am after reports the train had struck a vehicle at the crossing.

The two occupants of the car, who are yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The train driver and two other staff members were on board the freight train at the time of the collision. None were physically injured.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and said the exact cause is yet to be determined.
