THE vegetables in the garden beds at the Food is Free Green Space could soon have labels to help community members better identify and use the plants.

Food is Free is a finalist in the environment category of the Canon Oceania’s Grants program.

If they are the winners of the $5000 grant it will provide equipment for creating plant identification systems, both digital and weather-proof print versions.

“We are thrilled to be a finalist, winning would mean the world to us,” said Lou Ridsdale, Food is Free founder.

“We want to be able to educate our visitors on what to do with the vegies and how easy and fun it is to grow them,” she said.

The overall winners of the grants will be chosen by public vote.

Logon to canon.com.au/grants and cast your vote for Food is Free.

Voting ends on Wednesday 21 August.
