Water supply good as dry, hot summer looms
BALLARAT’S water resources are secure as the area prepares for an anticipated “drier and hotter summer,” according to Central Highlands Water’s Managing Director, Paul O’Donohue.
“Despite below average rainfall over the past 12 months in our region, our water resources remain in a good position,” he said.
Having produced their annual water outlook this month, CHW has referred to updates from the Bureau of Meteorology.
The region’s supply systems, impacts of climate change, seasonal outlooks and population have been actively assessed.
“A secure and reliable water supply is fundamental to the health and wellbeing of our communities,” Mr O’Donohue said.
CHW covers 9,275 square kilometres across Ballarat, Central Goldfields, Golden Plains, Hepburn, Pyrenees, Northern Grampians, Moorabool and Corangamite, managing 15 water supply systems.
