Wellbeing and belonging at Cape Clear Fair
MAKE a family outing of Cape Clear Primary School’s inaugural Spring Fair on Saturday, 16 November, 10am to 3pm.
An inclusive event, Principal Lachlan Day said there’s plenty of entertainment and activities planned for the whole family to enjoy.
“A lot of the events on the day are free of charge,” Mr Day said. “We’ve got a two-piece band coming to play, Ballarat Botanikids are coming out from the Botanic Gardens, making rock people and doing some potting activities.
“We’ve got a chook poo raffle, we’ll be having a spinning wheel with prizes, marquees from the shire, toasted sandwiches and the local CFA will be there with their trucks, trying to include as many aspects of our little community in the fair as we can.”
Also on the cards are pony rides, a face painter, jumping castle, sausage sizzle, cake stall, showbags, plaster paining, a Car Boot Trash and Treasure sale, and more.
Mr Day said the fair is not only for fun, but to encourage local connections and give parents more opportunities to get involved with the school.
“In Cape Clear itself, we are the hub of the community out there now,” he said. “As the school, we want to try and put Cape Clear on the map, and provide for the people in the community, an event that will bring people from outside of Cape Clear.
“The most important aspect of it is building that community sense of wellbeing and belonging, and sharing that experience with the children in the school.”
Those interested in having a stall in the sale can register a site for $15 by contacting Patty on 0459 423 080 or Tanya on 0431 510 812.
Local businesses interested in donating prizes for the spinning wheel can also contact the above numbers. Contributing businesses will be promoted.
Currently 26 children attend Cape Clear Primary School and their parents are driving the fair’s organisation.
