Wozzles open Wearhouse for book sale
THREE-hundred-and-forty-eight years. That’s how much combined service the current volunteers of op-shop, Wozzles Wearhouse have given to Child and Family Services.
This Saturday, 5 October from 10am to 3pm, Ballarat has the opportunity to meet this team when they present Wozzles’ first book sale at their Mitchell Park processing facility.
With books at bargain prices, there will be varying genres available, from cooking to gardening, crafts to sports, children’s to adult fiction, biographies to encyclopedias, self-help and more.
All generating money for Cafs’ programs and services for children and families in need, there will also be a selection of DVDs, clothing, toys and bric-a-brac.
Cafs’ Narelle Burnside said it’s valuable to visit the Patanga Court facility on Saturday for more than the sale.
“It’s a huge range of books that we’ve got, we’re 95 per cent sure we’ll have a coffee van, we’ve got EFTPOS out here and lots of parking,” she said. “It’s worth coming out just to observe where people’s donations go to, and where they’re processed. I remember when I walked in here for the first time, I was like, oh my goodness.”
Three current volunteers have been with the charity for over 23 years, and Ms Burnside said visitors interested in becoming a volunteer can make an inquiry.
“We’ve got packs ready to go for any interested volunteers,” she said. “They can volunteer either in the shops, or out here. There’s options.”
