Wozzles tops up support services

WOZZLES Wearhouse’s second Super Sale of bargain books, DVDs, clothing, toys and bric-a-brac is set for Saturday, 29 February.

Raising around $1600 at their last sale, the op-shop is opening its Patanga Court processing facility again, from 9am to 3pm, to generate more funds for Child and Family Services’ initiatives across the Central Highlands.

Cafs CEO, Wendy Sturgess said the ongoing proceeds of Wozzles Wearhouse stores keeps the funding of many programs “topped up.

“Self-funded programs fall into the Day Stay, Dad’s Tool Kit, Leaving Care Mentoring program and residential care,” she said.

“We’re always looking for funding opportunities to make these programs sustainable and to expand.”

Day Stay gives parenting techniques to people with a new baby, and Leaving Care Mentoring provides support and role models to young people transitioning from foster, kinship or residential care.

Dad’s Tool Kit assists fathers to connect and effectively communicate with their children, while young people in residential care need support around the clock.

“We’re focussing on the sustainability of existing programs, but ideally we’d like to get to a position where we can do a bit more piloting,” Ms Sturgess said.

“We’re not there yet, but that’s our next chapter.”

The sale will be undercover, and EFTPOS facilities and a coffee van are available. Parking is easily accessible onsite at 1 Patanga Court, Mitchell Park.
