Young photographers snap a win
WINNERS of the Golden Plains Shire’s Youth Photography Competition were announced last Friday, wrapping up Victorian Youth Week celebrations.
A total 77 entries were made by 34 young people, with first, second and third place winners chosen for both the 12 to 18 years and 19 to 25 years categories.
14-year-old Jackson Scheier took out first place in the younger competition, followed by 18-year-old Maya Cooke and 12-year-old Frazer Ridgeway.
In the 19 to 25 years category, 19-year-old Hayley Chivers was awarded first place, while 22-year-old Tash Dear and 19-year-old Dylan Humm came second and third, respectively.
The competition entries were judged independently and each winner received a gift voucher to Camera House Geelong.
The winning photographs were selected based on composition, creativity and connection to the region, and mayor Cr Helena Kirby said they “beautifully capture life in Golden Plains.”
“It’s been great to see the creative work of Golden Plains youth on display during Victorian Youth Week,” she said.
“From the entries, it’s clear we have many talented and artistic young people across the Shire.”
