A battle for the Joey Cup

BALLARAT Tennis Club hosted the first Joey Cup on 9-10 January – an international Real Tennis handicap doubles tournament.

The cup was scheduled in the Australian real tennis competition calendar as players approached the Melbourne Roo Cup on 12-19 January.

Rod Unmack and Andrew Rowan claimed the Joey Cup. They also won the match pictured, eight games to seven games.

Ballarat Tennis Club president, Anne Strange said it was fantastic for local sport.

“There were international players which is really great for Ballarat.”

The real tennis ladies world championships will be hosted by the Ballarat club later this year.
