Beaufort coach humble after win

MARS Stadium was the venue for the Central Highlands league football and netball grand finals on Saturday.

Buninyong couldn’t keep up the pace with Beaufort running away victors – the last time Beaufort had won a premiership was in 1996. After the game coach Rohan Brown said he couldn’t be prouder of his side.

“We just focused on intensity around the contest,” he said of the win.

“Our tackle count was over 100, that’s where we thought we could get it through there and we did around the contest and the game opened up, which is what we needed, as well. It was just an even contribution across the ground.”

Beaufort had recruited well and it showed on Saturday.

“It all comes back to guys like Phil Crouch and Dale Power – former coaches – Nick Franc, and these guys, I think 16 guys from last year played and we had recruited a few players in so it’s been great,” Brown said.

Brown has resigned for another year, as well 75- 80% of players, which is a great thing for the club.

“We have a nice strong team and that’s the sort of culture we have built around the club,” Brown said.

“Twenty-two years has been a long time for their hard work and hopefully they can enjoy it as much we are.”
