Bloods Victorious in Melton Mud

DESPITE the wet and windy conditions, Melton has convincingly inflicted Darley’s first defeat for the season.

The Devils took the early ascendency with a costly turnover and 50 metre penalty giving them a three-point lead at the quarter time; before the Bloods took back full control and utterly smashed their Eastern Bloc counterparts in all facets of the game.

An inspiring speech from coach Aaron Tymms at his quarter time address was arguably the catalyst in their come from behind win.

In a close to best on ground performance, Bloods Co-Captain, Braedan Kight slammed five goals after quarter time to help Melton run out 30-point victors.

The Devils were able to add some serious respectably to the scoreboard, with six final quarter goals with three coming in the last five minutes to save some vital percentage points and keep themselves ahead of the Bloods on the ladder.

Post-game, injured Bloods Co-Captain Ben Archard said, “We deserved our victory today. We matched them physically and that’s definitely something we wanted to ramp up, because we know Darley is a physical side and the weather permitted it to be an in and under game, we got the stoppages early and we bashed them up really.”

The Bloods have the league bye after interleague meaning there will be 21 days between games. However, they will be able to recall the likes of Archard along with spearhead, Darren Haby, and key ball-winner, Matt Denham, when they travel to Sunbury.
